A talented multi-instrumentalist in his own right, bassist Lee Calabro was with the band at it's inception in 1976, but not playing bass. Lee began his tenure with Abilene handling lead guitar, pedal-steel guitar, mandolin and dobro chores.

Somehow over the years  Lee migrated to bass guitar where alongside drummer Jim Musto he has become part of the one-two punch that drives Abilene's rhythm section.
